Paddington (Ben Whishaw, 'Perfume', 'Bright Star') is a young orphaned Peruvian bear that has grown up deep in the jungle with his Aunt Lucy (Imelda Staunton, 'Maleficent', 'Pride') who has raised her nephew to dream of an exciting life in London. When an earthquake destroys their home, Aunt Lucy decides to smuggle her young nephew on board a boat bound for England, in search of a better life.
Arriving alone at Paddington Station, the cute cub soon finds himself list and alone and begins to realise that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the Brown family, led by father Henry (Hugh Bonneville, 'Downton Abbey', 'The Monuments Men') and mother Mary (Sally Hawkins, 'Blue Jasmine', 'Happy Go Lucky'). The family finds a hand-written label around his neck, which reads ‘Please look after this bear. Thank you.’, and offer him tea, a brand new name and a warm place to stay.
It looks as though Paddington’s luck has changed, until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a sinister, seductive museum taxidermist called Millicent (Nicole Kidman, 'Before I Go To Sleep', 'The Hours') who has an old score to settle. Paddington now finds his new home – and very existence – under great threat.
Delightfully charming and full of hilarious misadventures, Paddington is a warm bear hug of a film for the whole family to enjoy.
