BELLE

Belle follows the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, a young woman who was raised alongside her English cousin as an aristocrat in 18th century England. Dido is from noble blood, but is also the child of a negress slave. As both children blossom into womanhood, the issue of how to find a suitable marriage for the beautiful and accomplished young woman begins to surface. While Lord Mansfield presides over the famous Somersett’s Case, an influential case in the abolition of slavery in England, Dido meets the handsome John Davinier, and their mutual attraction begins to draw strong attention.
