Julio and Ana have been together for over fifteen years. They don’t look at each other or touch each other anymore and daily conflicts have become the norm. This evening, Ana has invited the upstairs neighbours over. Salva and Laura are slightly younger than them and welcomed them with open arms when they moved into the building, but the constant moaning and groaning coming from their apartment has become a source of arguments for Julio and Ana... perhaps it’s jealousy, they wish their own sex life was as spicy.

When theatre actor Julián (Darín) receives an unexpected visit from his childhood friend Tomás (Cámara), the encounter is bittersweet. This reunion is their first meeting in many years, triggered by Julian’s failing health. Tomas is baffed by his friend’s decision to forgo treatment and instead focus on putting his a airs in order: distributing possessions, reconciling past disputes, and, most importantly, finding a home for his beloved Staffordshire terrier, Truman. It’s this task that is causing Julián the greatest concern.

By the rigid standards of the day, this makes Antonio a radical. When he learns that John Lennon is filming Richard Lester’s How I Won the War on the other side of the country, Antonio drops everything and sets out in in his tiny Fiat to find the production’s location, hoping Lennon can help him understand the lyrics to the newly released ‘Revolver’ LP.
