Set in the glamorous jazz age of the 1920s on the opulent French Riviera, Woody Allen’s 'Magic in the Moonlight' is an enchanting romantic comedy starring Colin Firth ('The King’s Speech', 'Love Actually') and Emma Stone ('The Help', 'Crazy, Stupid, Love').
The film follows cynical and arrogant Englishman Stanley (Firth), a master illusionist with an aversion to phony spiritualists who claim they can perform real magic. Persuaded by his lifelong friend, Stanley travels to the Côte d'Azur mansion of the Catledge family to unmask a possible swindle involving an alluring young clairvoyant named Sophie (Stone). Stanley is confident he can expose her as a fraud in no time. But as he witnesses her accomplish numerous supernatural feats, Stanley begins to question his whole rational worldview.
The film continues in the spirit of Allen’s 'Midnight in Paris', delivering terrific comedic performances from a stellar ensemble cast. Lively, witty and immensely enjoyable, Magic in the Moonlight delves into the very heart of our belief in something more, with a twist you won’t see coming.
