After arriving in Finland from Syria as a stowaway on a coal freighter, Khaled applies for asylum without much hope of success. Meanwhile, eccentric travelling shirt salesman Wikström decides to change his life, and buys an unprofitable restaurant. When the authorities deny Khaled’s application, he goes underground in the capital, encountering all sorts.
