'Rosewater' is the incredible true story of Canadian Iranian broadcast journalist Maziar Bahari. While covering the 2009 Iranian elections, Bahari was wrongfully arrested for treason and detained in Tehran's Evin prison where he developed an oddly symbiotic relationship with his interrogator. His universal story about love and freedom caught the attention of world leaders and mainstream media outlets across the globe, including Jon Stewart and The Daily Show.
'ROSEWATER' STORIES
Jon Stewart elicits a wonderful performance out of Gael Garcia Bernal, who skirts around the cliché of the tragic, mistreated hero to make Bahari an endearing and deeply human figure.
This film raises your hopes, then dashes them. It’s a turbulent film that's not comfortable to watch.
