ALCARRÀS (2023)

For as long as they can remember, the Solé family have spent every summer picking the peaches from their orchard in Alcarràs, a small village in Spain. But this year’s crop will be their last. The owner of the land is deceased, and his grandson and heir wants them to abandon the farming business so he can uproot the trees and install solar panels.

So as the children and the adults get together for the harvest, the family finds themselves at odds as to how they should go on, and risk losing more than their home.

SUMMER 1993 (2018)

In the summer of 1993, following the death of her parents, six-year old Frida is forced from bustling Barcelona to the Catalan provinces to live with her aunt and uncle, her new legal guardians.

Country life is a challenge: aside from the emotional upheaval, the nature that surrounds her is mysterious, if not dangerous. The couple’s own daughter Anna, even younger than Frida, welcomes her new sister with open arms and without a flicker of jealousy, but Frida has a hard time coping with her emotions. Even as the new family begins to find a fragile balance, the source of her parents’ passing casts a shadow over how Frida is treated by the local community... Indeed, her life will never be the same.

It's 2004 in Vigo on Spain’s Atlantic coast. 18-year-old Marina has arrived to meet her grandparents for the first time, seeking their signature on some documents that she needs for a scholarship application. Raised by her mother’s sister, Marina is unfamiliar with the numerous aunties, uncles and cousins on the other side of her family, and is immediately confronted with a past shaped by absence and long-buried emotions, hindering her ambition to reconstruct a coherent account of her father, the love story he had with her mother, and her place in the story.
