Well it’s, um... You see there’s all these actors and it’s a comedy, I think... it’s sort of like... You know...?
‘Movie 43’, despite its completely illogical title to its unadulterated “What the hell are they doing in this movie!?” factor, this may be the most universally panned film ever (next to ‘Catwoman’; both star Halle Berry - I’m just saying).
Taking years to make and pulling every favour and “friendship card” in the business, the Farrelly brothers and their merry band of misfit men have put together the most bizarre, offensive and whacky movie ever.
‘Movie 43’ is an anthology of out-there comedies starring and directed by the who’s who of Hollywood, and taking advantage of inner-industry romantic relationships including that of Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber and, at the time, Emma Stone and Kieran Culkin. Tied together as a series of film pitches between mad screen writer Charlie Wessler (Dennis Quaid) and studio executive Griffin Schraeder (Greg Kinnear), each new vignette is more offensive and absurd than its predecessor.

The Farrelly brothers are synonymous with this brand of humour. The film doesn’t pitch itself as anything short of what it actually is. Anyone walking into the cinema expecting something different, any shock, disgust or offense experienced on their part is by their own naïve hands. Okay, a little of that responsibility lies with the film itself, but that’s kinda the idea.
This movie is hilarious, if you’re into this sort of thing - but it's definitely not for everyone. The bulk of the humour comes from watching your favourite stars such as Richard Gere, Josh Duhamel and Kate Winslet doing things you never would have imagined them doing... ever. Suffice it to say, it will be hard to look at Hugh Jackman the same again. Approach with caution.
