Nine years ago, it was the little movie that could - one that the studios weren’t convinced of, but the ticket-buying masses expressed their strength in numbers, before quote after quote worked its way into the lexicon. Since then, no one has even been able to utter the words scotch, milk, lamp or... jazz flute without an onslaught of 'Anchorman' dialogue to follow. Now, it's time to revisit our old friends in the film's sequel.
After separating from his wife and co-anchor Veronica (Christina Applegate) in a jealous fit when she receives the coveted 6pm anchor position over him, Ron (Will Farrell), a shadow of his former self, is lured back to broadcast news to help usher in the dawn of a 24-hour news channel - the first of its kind. Reassembling the old crew of Brick (Steve Carell), Brian (Paul Rudd) and Champ (David Koerchner), the awesome foursome run into some rivalry from News golden boy Jake Lime (James Marsden) and his crew. Given the graveyard shift and a bet to bring in viewers, Ron and his team ask the ultimate question - why not tell the people what they want to hear instead of what the need to hear? This new format shakes up the entire industry, giving rise to cute animal stories, extreme patriotism and high-speed police chases - basically everything deplorable about modern news coverage. The gamble proves to be a huge success, and the group are once again on top, but not without consequences.
ANCHORMAN 2 - TRAILER 2
Due to success of the first ‘Anchorman’, the entire cast has returned for round two, bringing along with them new faces like Greg Kenner and Josh Lawson, and a slew of hilarious cameos sure to blow your mind. With smarter and more calculated humour, the film still employs the absurd, pleasing fans and delighting newcomers. With an already proven winning cast, along with a more topical story this time around, director Adam McKay and Farrell have hit the nail on the head. The stupidity of the first film scared a lot of audience members away, but this time the brains as well as brawn are sure to win them back - and then some.
