You won't find Lissie lining up for popcorn at the next blockbuster, but when the most horrific, disturbing and down-right diabolical horror film comes out, you know she'll be there. Her life-long obsession with the macabre came around the same time she saw her first Studio Ghibli film and developed a lifelong obsession with the beauty and whimsy of these animated movies. The juxtaposition is not lost on her. Maybe it's time to review some Junji Ito film adaptions?

COLONYThe action movie you've been dying to see

If you take a step back and consider 'Colony' as a typical, fast-paced action movie with some zombies thrown in for good measure, you'll enjoy it. If you go into a screening with hopes for a tense, horror-thriller, you'll be left with much to desire. The zombies are scary – their movements are unnatural, and when they communicate through the hive mind, it is extremely eerie – but the lack of any fleshed-out characters means you don't really care about the outcome.

RENTAL FAMILYSometimes it's okay to pretend

Not every role Phillip takes on has a happy ending, because life doesn't always have a happy ending. But this film does, and you will exit the cinema with your cup a little more full than when you entered.
